A number of supporting systems are recommended, to complete the integration of the AMS system into the organisation. Key systems include:
Internet/WAN Connectivity
-
To provide network access to a wider network, the system needs to be connected to the Internet (or private WAN if applicable) via appropriate routing equipment.
Hand-Held Systems
-
AMS will optionally allow data entry using hand-held PocketPC devices. These should run the PocketPC 2002 or later operating system.
Desktop Systems
-
The core AMS data entry and reporting functions require a standard Windows desktop machine running Windows 98 or later.
Server Systems
-
A back-end server running SQL Server 2000 or later or running MSDE is required. MSDE is recommended for 5 or less simultaneous users. Future implementations of AMS may support Linux system databases such as MySQL and generic ODBC storage.
Patient Data Gateway
-
If integration with existing patient information systems is required, a gateway to this data must be provided using an ODBC driver, XML file or text file format. Data access can be real-time or periodic eg hourly updates.
